Fun at the Playground Before the Big Change

Jodi and the boys leave tomorrow for Denver. I’ll be joining them in Denver on Sunday afternoon. The gameplan is to hang with her parents until the baby is born and stay up there a few days after the little man arrives before heading back to Branson. I’ve let her and the boys go up north without me before, but this is different. This is harder.

Daddy Brock and Brody Days

The kindergarten teacher has no belly button.

Really, he doesn’t. He had surgery this week which resulted in his belly button being removed and Jodi subbing for his K-1 class all week. That means 4 straight Daddy Brock and Brody Days. I used to be afraid of those days. Now I love these days. The boys are at a great age and are up for just about anything as long as Daddy is there. The weather is great. I can’t get enough.

This week we’ve seen plumbing birds (“hummingbirds” said the first time by Brock), orioles, antelope, squirrels, a lizard, and a snake (Brody totally freaked out – which is a good thing). We’ve ridden bikes and planted vegetables. I can’t count how many times we’ve had light saber battles and wrestled – or played Batman and Robin. I’ve been every Batman bad guy imaginable this week – even Catwoman. Meow!

The great part is that I imagine running through life with my wife and boys having awesome times like this. Sure there will be challenges and times where we can’t spend this much time together, but these Daddy Brock and Brody Days are the days that rock.
